Hi everyone,
This is my first year teaching in a classroom where all of my students have Chromebooks and it has been AWESOME! I've been using YouTube a lot to upload tutorials (especially for math). Sometimes when I create math reviews with embedded tutorials, my students get the dreaded "This video is not available in safety mode" error screen!

Sometimes when I create math reviews with embedded tutorials, my students get the dreaded "This video is not available in safety mode" error screen!
I found a way to bypass this error so that all of my students can view my tutorials no matter what. At this point, I no longer have issues where my students are unable to access video tutorials. I make almost all of my tutorials with Doceri Desktop. I have a short explanation of Doceri in another blogpost here. Check back later if you want to see more about Doceri..I plan to make a detailed explanation of the app and how to use it.
So what's the trick?
When I create my tutorials on Doceri or on Screencast-o-matic, I export the videos and upload them to my Google Drive. I can set the sharing settings on GoogleDrive so anyone with the link can access. At this point, your videos are accessible no matter what!
This won't work if you have the standard 5g of storage...or it won't work for very long. If your school is a Google Apps district, you should have unlimited storage, so hosting your videos here won't be an issue.

Is there a downside?
The only downside I've found when hosting videos on my drive instead of YouTube is that the videos can't be embedded as easily. If embedding videos is important, you could upload the videos to both places and provide this link beside the embedded link. I have started embedding videos and adding this text: "If the embedded video doesn't work, click here to bypass safety mode."
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have issues.
