As I've been talking with teachers and observing how people share resources, I noticed that very few people use URL shorteners. A URL shortener is a service that takes a really long URL and makes it shorter (obviously)! Some services allow you to customize your URL, while others don't. My personal favorite URL shortener is bit.ly, but there are some other great options as well: TinyUrl, Google URL Shortener, and more!

This year my team opted to not order a traditional planner for our 5th grade students. All of our students have Chromebooks, so I decided to look for an online resource to help keep my students organized. This is when I discovered WeekPlan. WeekPlan is AWESOME because it is easy to sign up, use and sync across multiple devices. The only downside to WeekPlan that I've found is that students aren't able to set up sections for subjects, meaning they can't fill out a "math section" like we are used to doing. I'm okay with that! WeekPlan makes it very easy for students to add assignments with detailed descriptions and due dates. When accessing Week Plan from Chrome, you can view the full site, or use the Google Chrome extension. If you decide to use this tool, let me know how it works for you and if you develop any tips/tricks!
Hi everyone, This is my first year teaching in a classroom where all of my students have Chromebooks and it has been AWESOME! I've been using YouTube a lot to upload tutorials (especially for math). Sometimes when I create math reviews with embedded tutorials, my students get the dreaded "This video is not available in safety mode" error screen! |
